Thespian Dilip Kumar hospitalised
Mumbai: Veteran actor Mr Dilip Kumar (94) was admitted in the ICU of the privately-run Lilavati hospital, Bandra (west) on Wednesday afternoon. The actor was rushed to the hospital due to kidney problems and dehydration, according to the hospital’s chief executive officer, Dr Ravi Shankar.
The actor, who made various visits to the hospital in the last few years, was last admitted there in December after he complained of fever and swelling in his right leg. Dr Ravi Shankar said to The Asian Age, “The actor was hospitalised after complaining of dehydration. A problem in his kidneys had occurred and we did the required test.”
Dr Shankar said, “He has been kept in a normal room and he has been passing urine normally, so no need to worry.” He added, “Doctors are keeping a close watch on Dilip Kumar.” This is the third time the actor was admitted at the same hospital. On December 7 last year, he had swelling in his right leg. In April last year, he had taken ill with pneumonia. Kumar had trouble breathing and his white blood cells had shot up. However, he made a quick recovery in two days. His wife and veteran actor, Saira Banu told via Twitter that the actor was doing well after treatment.
In his six-decade long career, the legendary actor gave superhits like Madhumati, Devdas, Mughal-e-Azam, Karma.
