Girl registers complaint against 4 for gang-rape
Mumbai: A 19-year-old girl registered a complaint against four people who allegedly gang-raped her at Chunabhatti. The alleged incident took place on July 7, but the complainant did not tell anyone about it.
It was only on July 30 that she confided in her father, who lives in Aurangabad, about the incident.
The complainant’s condition deteriorated towards the end of July, and her father lodged the complaint late Tuesday, July 30, at Begumpara police station. The Begumpara police said that they registered a “zero” FIR and the case was eventually transferred to zone 6 of the Mumbai police. A “zero” FIR is a FIR that can be filed at any police station regardless of where the crime was committed.
Mumbai police spokesp-erson DCP Pranay Ashok said, “We have received a zero FIR from Aurangabad as the girl’s father appr-oached the Aurangabad police. However, since the crime took place in Mumbai, the case has been transferred to us.”
DCP Sashi Kumar Meena of zone 6 said, “We have formed three to four teams and are investigating from all angles. All the CCTV footage has been scanned and our investigation is underway.”
The 19-year-old girl in her statement to the police said that on July 7, 2019, when she left her brother's place in the morning to attend a birthday party, four men raped her.
On July 14, the complainant suffered a paralytic attack after which her brother informed their father about her health and she was taken to a private hospital.
From there, she was shifted to the state-run Ghati hospital. During treatment, it was revealed that she had been raped.
