Cab driver stabs porter to death
Mumbai: A porter was murdered by a cab driver outside Bandra Terminus late on Saturday due to personal reasons, said Nirmal Nagar police.
The porter was attacked with a sharp weapon after he sought an explanation from the accused over some impending issue.
Police officials later learned that the murder was committed over an alleged fight with one Jagga.
The murder took place at around 8.30 pm near a rickshaw stand outside platform 1 of the terminal.
The accused Imran Khan was apprehended soon after for murdering Vijay Dhendwal. The duo spoke before the incident after Dhendwal sought an explanation from Khan for assaulting his friend, Jagga.
A squabble followed during which Khan killed Dhendwal with a sharp weapon.
“When the duo started fighting, locals intervened and stopped them. However, Khan left from the spot and returned later with a knife which he used to stab Dhendwal. The deep stab wound on Dhendwal’s shoulder led to his death,” said a police officer.
The people who witnessed the incident rushed the injured to V.N. Desai hospital. However, he died while undergoing treatment for his wound. The autopsy report revealed that he had died due to loss of blood. He is survived by his brother and parents.
The people held Khan after the incident and handed him over to the Nirmal Nagar police.
A case has been registered against Khan under section 302 for murder and he was produced before a local court which remanded him to police custody for further investigation.
