Rs 40 crore sanction for Nagpur Deekshabhoomi
A grant of Rs 2.9 crore for NGOs has been allowed, informed Mr Badole.
Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has sanctioned an eye-popping Rs 40 crore for the development of Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur, where Dr B.R. Ambedkar converted to Buddhism with lakhs of his followers.
Social justice minister Rajkumar Badole on Tuesday said that the government had also sanctioned funds for various other works, including the development of the Dragon Palace temple in Nagpur.
A sum of Rs 40 crore has been sanctioned for development works at Deekshabhoomi, while an additional Rs 15 crore has been approved for works at the Dragon Palace temple, a Buddhist shrine in the Kamptee area.
Another Rs 11.12 crore has been authorised for the construction of the Sant Rohidas Bhavan in Parel; and Rs 8.1 crore for the construction of Bharat Ratna Dr Babas-aheb Ambedkar multipurpose social and cultural centre in Thane district. A grant of Rs 2.9 crore for NGOs has been allowed, informed Mr Badole.
