Mumbai: Court remands Obaid Radiowala in 1- day custody
Mumbai: A magistrate court on Wednesday remanded Obaid Radiowala, an alleged aide of gangster Ravi Pujari, in Mumbai crime branch’s custody for a day.
Radiowala has been deported from the USA and the police brought him to Mumbai from Delhi on Wednesday. According to Radiowala’s lawyer Nazneen Khatri, the reason for remanding Radiowala to short police custody is that the magistrate wanted to see what order the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court passed when the accused was produced before it.
The police is seeking Radiowala’s custody in the case where a criminal conspiracy was hatched to eliminate renowned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.
When police sought his custody, advocate Khatri informed the magistrate that the trial court had already discharged all the accused from the charges of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in 2018 and if the entire judgment was seen, there was no case against Radiowala.
Following this, the magistrate remanded Radiowala to a day’s custody and asked the prosecution to produce the copy of the order passed by the MCOCA court Wednesday.
Producing Radiowala for remand turned out to be dramatic, as the police initially produced him before the special MCOCA court.
