Shiv Sena to launch Shiv Sampark Abhiyan on May 6

Even the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) had also announced Samparka Yatra to counter the Opposition.

Mumbai: After Opposition parties’ Sangharsha Yatra, the Shiv Sena will launch ‘Shiv Sampark Abhiyan’ to communicate with farmers in the state from May 6. The Abhiyan will kick off from Marathwada region. Even the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) had also announced Samparka Yatra to counter the Opposition.

While speaking at a party programme on Wednesday, the Shiv Sena chief told the party workers to start the Shiv Sampark Abhiyan. He asked all the elected representatives to go to rural areas and speak to the farmers and understand their problems.

“We are launching Shiv Sampark Abhiyan to speak with the farmers. The first phase of the Abhiyan would start from Marathwada,” Uddhav Thackeray said. Mr Thackeray and Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray would be attending the Abhiyan on May 7th in Marathwada.

The Sena’s announcement comes after the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) Sangharsha Yatra. The opposition parties have been demanding a complete loan waiver for the farmers. They even boycotted the proceedings of the state legislature.

Meanwhile, Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray met chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday, demanding speedy repair works of roads across Mumbai.

The opposition has been consistently pursuing the demand of loan waiver to farmers. The opposition leaders also met the governor of Maharashtra on Tuesday to demand a special session of the legislature to discuss the farmers’ issues.

Immediately, after the opposition’s move, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis instructed the party workers to start ‘Sampark Yatra’. In a party meeting held last week in Pimpri-Chinchwad, the chief minister asked workers to interact with the farmers and try resolve their issues.

The political parties are taking up various initiatives in the backdrop of growing anger among farmers. At present, the farmers are struggling to sell their tur dal, which has no buyers due to over-production this year.

Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray met chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday at Mantralaya, demanding speedy repair works of roads across Mumbai. He complaint to the CM, claiming that stone quarries have closed down in Navi Mumbai and Thane due to which raw material for road construction is not available. The CM assured him that he would look into the matter.
