Cops arrest Afghan man with heroin worth Rs 4 crore

New Delhi: The Delhi police crime branch on Friday arrested a 36-year-old Afghan national for allegedly peddling drugs worth Rs 4 crore in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, said Rajiv Ranjan, additional commissioner of police (crime).

Two kilograms of fine quality heroin was seized from the foreign national. The accused was identified as Moha-mmad Nadir Khadim used to visit India on medical visa and stayed in Malviya Nagar, he said.

According to police, they received a tip-off on Khadim on July 24 that he would come near Bhagat Singh Park in Malviya Nagar to supply heroin to a customer.

Acting on the information, the police conducted a raid in the region and subsequently arrested the accused, he said.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that he was suffering from Hepatitis B for the last 12 years and used to visit India for treatment on a medical visa.

Khadim visited India for the first time for his treatment in 2016, police said.
