CR asks civic body to close Kalyan ROB

The century-old Patri Pool connects Kalyan east and west situated at CSMT end in Kalyan.

Mumbai: The Central Railway (CR) has asked Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) to close the Patri Pool road over bridge (RoB) at Kalyan.

In a joint inspection conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, the CR and KDMC officials on July 20, the bridge was found ‘unsafe’ for vehicular traffic as well as pedestrians. The century-old Patri Pool connects Kalyan east and west situated at CSMT end in Kalyan.

According to the report of the safety audit, KDMC has been informed on August 3, to stop all kind of traffic including pedestrian traffic on this bridge. The CR has also asked the KDMC to notify the same to general public, ‘Not to use the bridge, in view of safety’.

Further, the Central Railway will make an arrangement for dismantling the bridge as soon as possible. CR chief spokesperson Sunil Udasi has confirmed the development.
