MNS backs bank officers on getting city postings

Mumbai: Successful Mumbai-based candidates of Central Bank of India’s examination for All India Service (Scale-I officers) have knocked on the doors of Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) after failing to get postings in the city.

According to banking officers, out of the 17 successful AIS candidates from Mumbai, only three have been posted in the city while the remaining 14 have been shunted out.

The MNS has decided to support local Marathi candidates and asked the bank to cancel postings outside of Mumbai. Otherwise, it has threatened to stage a protest.

The candidates who have been shunted out of Mumbai meet MNS chief Raj Thackeray at his residence, Krishnakunj, after which he  asked his associates to assist them.

A candidate told The Asian Age, “We have requested for posting in our city. We have domicile of Mumbai and as per the law there is a provision for us to get posting in Mumbai. Even then, we have been deprived of the same without any notification.”

MNS general secretary Yashwant Killedar termed the decision an ‘injustice to Marathi candidates’ and said that he had spoken to the bank  to immediately cancel their posting and post all candidates in Mumbai zonal offices.”

Mr Killedar said, “If officials fail to cancel postings, they will face a MNS style protest. We will not tolerate any injustice towards Marathi candidates.”

The MNS general secretary also wondered as to how female candidates with families would be able to manage if they are posted outside the city.
