Mumbai: The prosecution Monday began examining witnesses in the 2008 Maleg-aon bomb blasts’ case with the recording of the testimony of two doctors. The defence will cross-examine these witnesses Tuesday.

The judge also imposed a cost of Rs 2,500 on the defence lawyer of Sud-hakar Dhar Dwivedi beca-use he remained absent on Monday. These witnes-ses were among the doctors who treated the victims of the bomb blasts at the hospital.

These doctors had prepared medical reports of five deceased and one inj-ured, and in their report, they had stated that the victims suffered injuries due to explosion.

While answering questions posed by special public prosecutor Avinash Rasal, the doctors co-nfirmed that the reports had been prepared by them and stood by what they had stated in their reports. As soon as the testimony of the witness was over, special Judge Vinod Padalkar asked the defence to cross-examine the witness however, the defence lawyer of Dwivedi was absent.
