Four booked for battering police informer to death in Andheri
Mumbai: Four men allegedly killed a 41-year-old Santa Cruz resident on Friday in Andheri when the latter complained about one of the accused to the police. The deceased, Vasiullah Mohsin Shaikh, was a tea stall owner and a police informer. The accused allegedly attacked Shaikh and his two brothers with a steel pipe and rods. The MIDC police has registered a case of murder against the accused but is yet to make any arrests.
Speaking to The Asian Age, a police officer, requesting anonymity, said, “Since the investigation of the murder case is in its primary stages, we cannot reveal the identity of the absconding accused. According to the complaint we received on Friday afternoon, the complainant Abdul Mohsin Shaikh was attacked in Andheri when he was with his brothers Vasiullah Mohsin Shaikh and Shamsuddin Shaikh.”
The officer added, “Vasiullah was thrashed with rods and pipes, sustaining major injuries on the head and chest. The three brothers were rushed to the civic-run Cooper Hospital, where Vasiullah was declared dead on arrival. The four accused, who fled the spot, have been absconding. Abdul and Shamsuddin sustained injuries on the stomach and face and have been admitted in the civic-run Cooper Hospital.”
Senior police inspector Shailesh Pasalwad of MIDC police station, said, “We are yet to nab the accused. We have booked them under relevant sections of IPC for murder and common intention.”
