Maid raped repeatedly and left on street

The victim, a 35-year-old housemaid, was raped in the afternoon of January 29.

Mumbai: In a spine-chilling incident, an inebriated man dragged a woman out of Airoli station in broad daylight, shoved her into an auto-rickshaw and took her to the home of a female friend in Rabale’s Godhvili village where he and his friend forced the victim to drink liquor after which she was taken to the bedroom and raped repeatedly.

Meanwhile, the female friend sat in the next room and simply let the brutality continue for at least three hours.

The victim, a 35-year-old housemaid, was raped in the afternoon of January 29 after which she was left traumatised and unconscious on the streets of Rabale until passers-by called up Rabale police station and informed them about the woman.

Thane Government Railway Police (GRP) said that the woman, who works as housemaid for a doctor in Seawoods, was approached by an unknown, inebriated man at Airoli station’s platform number 2 at4pm. Suddenly, he grabbed her hand and dragged her out of the station and into an auto rickshaw. The man kept threatening the woman with dire consequences if she made a ruckus in the rickshaw and she, in turn, kept quiet thinking she would escape at some point.

According to the victim’s statement, the man took her to the home of a female friend in Godhvili village where both the man and his friend forced her to drink liquor after which she was taken to the bedroom and raped repeatedly. After the heinous deed was done, the victim was dragged onto the street outside the building and abandoned there at around 9pm.

Initially registered at Rabale police station, the case was then transferred to Thane GRP which arrested the accused Yogesh Vasant Jadhav (40) and his accomplice, Kiran Ravindra Mali (69), after he was caught on the station’s CCTV camera on February 2. Jadhav has been booked under various sections of the IPC.
