Shocked' dad of attacker ashamed of son's action
Pune: The father of Rajesh Bakshi, the youth who on Monday allegedly attacked the daughter of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Sanjiv Reddy Bodkurvar, is said to be in shock and ashamed of his son’s action.
Ashwini Bodkurvar (22), lost the baby finger of her left hand in the knife attack and sustained multiple injuries on both her hands.
Pravin Kumar Bakshi, father of accused Rajesh Bakshi, reached Pune on Tuesday. According to sources, Mr Bakshi was so ashamed of his son that he did not want to hire a lawyer to fight for his son’s case in court. However, his relatives and friends counselled him and then he started the procedure to hire a lawyer, sources said.
On Monday morning, Rajesh Bakshi, a first year MBA student of Balaji Institute of Modern Management Institute in Pune, allegedly attacked his classmate Ms Bodkurvar. He had attacked her because she didn’t pay heed to his advances, sources said. He was later arrested.
Meanwhile, Ms Bodkurvar’s health has improved now after complicated surgeries. Dr Afreen Soudagar, administrator of Lifepoint Multispeciality Hospital where Ms Bodkurvar was taken after the attack, said, “Her condition was critical when she was brought in here. She had unlimited cuts on both her forearms. A few cuts were too deep. It took 10 long hours for a team of five doctors to perform a critical surgery. We have done plastic and vascular surgery on both her forearms. It needed multiple stitches to heal her.”
Ms Bodkurvar’s father MLA Sanjiv Reddy Bodkurvar said, “She is in much better condition and absolutely fine. She has begun to talk to us. I have talked to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, and he has promised that the accused will get maximum punishment.”
Meanwhile the police produced Rajesh Bakshi in a local court and the court granted six days police custody.
