Mumbai: At a time when citizens are struggling with steep hike in property tax and water charges, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led governance in the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has allegedly planned a junket, which is a four-day study tour to a hill station at Karnataka in the first week of May. A resolution to this effect was passed in the recently held standing committee meeting.

Envisaging a price tag of around 45 lakh, the itinerary of the exotic tour includes a three day stay at Coorg and a day’s visit to Udupi where the members will pay a visit to the local municipal council before flying back to Mumbai.

On the other hand, the stock of anti-rabies vaccines for dog-bite victims have exhausted and the much-needed fumigation drives (insecticide spraying) to battle the mosquito menace has been discontinued after 180 spray-men were shown the doors due to insufficient funds.

As of now, 50 corporators have given their affirmation for participation. However, the Congress leadership has warned their members to stay away from the tour.
