Party will come into power on its own, says Raosaheb Danve
Mumbai: BJP state president Raosaheb Danve has declared that party workers should try to bring it to power on its own in both Delhi and Mumbai in the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections.
The BJP is preparing to contest the elections without allying with the Shiv Sena.
BJP national president Amit Shah, too, will ask workers to prepare to fight solo at the ‘maharally’ at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) on Friday, which is billed to be a show-of-strength event for the party.
BJP sources said that talks about an alliance with the Sena are just a formality.
While the BJP has been considering partnering with the Sena for the upcoming elections, it has, at the same time, been preparing to go it alone in the elections.
Mr Danve’s appeal is to be viewed against this backdrop, and implies that BJP is not expecting or considering an alliance with the Sena but is gearing up to fight alone.
Addressing the maharally will be Mr Shah. Although the BJP is trying to initiate discussions with the Sena, it is not getting a response.
Hence, BJP wants to show that while it tried for an alliance, Sena refused to budge from its stand. Another reason for BJP preparing to go solo in the upcoming elections, said party sources.
