Rahul Gandhi fears of losing in Amethi, says Shahnawaz Hussain
Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain has said that Congress chief Rahul Gandhi decided to contest from Wayanad for fear of getting defeated in the Amethi constituency. He has also predicted that the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance will win all seats in Mumbai as well as in state.
When asked about the Congress chief’s decision to contest from two constituencies – Amethi in Uttar Pradesh and Wayanad in Kerala, Mr Hussain said that the fear of losing from Amethi had compelled him to go to Wayanad as the people of Amethi had already accepted Smriti Irani as their MP.
The BJP leader said that the adverse results for the BJP in the recent Assembly polls of three states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh – would not have any bearing on the Lok Sabha polls. Citing the example of Delhi, he said, “The issues are different in the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls. In Delhi, we had won all seven seats in the last Lok Sabha polls, but in the Assembly polls later, we could win only three seats.”
The people had made up their mind to make Mr Modi the PM again as they wanted to see the country strong. The Opposition had only a one-point agenda to remove Mr Modi as Prime Minister. However, the people were with him only, he said.
Mr Hussain said that the opposition parties would draw a blank in the Lok Sabha polls in the state. “The Congress-NCP will not be able to win even a single seat. They were hoping that the BJP and Sena would not contest together, which would benefit them,” he said.
