Prosecution examines Indrani's ex-domestic help
Mumbai: The prosecution in the 2012 Sheena Bora murder case on Monday examined Pradeep Waghmare, the former domestic help of prime accused Indrani Mukerjea and her husband Peter, as the fourth witness. Waghmare told the court that as per Indrani’s instructions he had not gone to the Marlow building for two to three days. According to the prosecution, Sheena was killed and her body was kept at Marlow on days when Waghmare was asked to not go to there.
“In April 2012, Kajal madam asked me to not go to Marlow for 2-3 days i.e. April 23, 24 and 25 2012,” said Waghmare while replying to questions asked by special public prosecutors Kavita Patil and Bharat Badami.
He told the court that as per instructions, instead of going to Marlow he went to the INX office, which was situated in Thane district at that time. He further said he went to Marlow on the afternoon of April 25 as Kajal had told him that now he could visit that place. After going to Marlow, Waghmare cleaned the flat as well as the garage owned by Indrani and Peter.
According to the prosecution, Indrani allegedly strangulated Sheena in a rented car on April 24 and her body was first taken to the flat and later placed in the garage. On April 25, Indrani along with her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver-turned-approver Shyamvar Rai disposed of her body by burning it.
Waghmare also told the judge that on April 25, Peter’s son had come to Marlow searching for Sheena and he had told Peter's son Rahul that since he hadn't visited Marlow for the last two days, he was not aware of her whereabouts. Indrani’s defence lawyer is expected to cross-examine Waghmare on June 11.
