Sessions court sends Pawar to ATS custody
Mumbai: The Mumbai sessions court has remanded accused Avinash Pawar to ATS custody till September 6 in the Nalasopara explosives haul case. The ATS argued before the court that the investigation revealed that the accused Vaibhav Raut, Sudhanva Gondhalekar and Avinash Pawar had been using one SIM card on different occasions and that the SIM card had been seized from Raut. The ATS wants to investigate whether ex-Shiv Sena corporator and arrested accused Shrikant Pangarkar imparted training to Pawar or not.
ATS counsel while arg-uing before Judge Vinod Padalkar said that the SIM card was in Pawar’s possession from January 2017 to January 2018 and during that period, Paw-ar was active around Ghatkopar, Pune and Belgaon areas. At the same time, the Sunburn festival was held and the film Padmaavat was released. Therefore, ATS wants to investigate what Pawar was doing there and who was the mastermind behind the conspiracy.
ATS argued that the investigation revealed that Pangarkar was used to impart training in the Jalna district and that he had imparted training to the accused arrested in Karnataka in the Gauri Lankesh murder case. Therefore, the ATS also wants to confront Pang-arkar and Pawar to get details about the training out into the open.
Pawar, a Ghatkopar resident employed at Mazgaon docks, was arrested on August 24 for his alleged role in the plot to bomb five cities in Maharashtra.
