'Rafale biggest defence scam'
Mumbai: Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday stepped up the attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government saying that it has created unprecedented challenge before the Indian democracy.
Mr Kharge said that the government’s recent spats with institutions like Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) are clear an indication of its high-handed behaviour.
Mr Kharge while addr-essing a ‘Save Constitution’ rally organised by the Mumbai Congress on Sunday appealed to Congress workers to work together in upcoming elections to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“Rafale is India’s bigg-est scam in defence. Pri-me Minister himself negotiated for the deal so he is responsible for what is happening, but this government is trying to put everything under the carpet. All illegal orders in CBI including sending CBI officer on a leave at midnight is just an attempt to hide the scam in Rafale,” said Mr Kharge.
Meanwhile, the Congr-ess leader recently filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the Modi government over CBI controversy.
Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam also slammed the government for undermining the independence of the Reserve Bank of India. “For the first time in history of RBI a notice under section of RBI Act has been issued. This is an attempt of government to control RBI. People need to be told about it,” said Mr Nirupam.
