8 MNS workers sent to judicial custody for fourteen days

Mumbai: A Metropolitan Magistrate Court of South Mumbai has sent eight Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers to fourteen days judicial custody in the case of vandalising Mumbai Congress office at CST. On December 2 court had remanded them police custody till December 4.

After granting judicial custody accused counsel Rajendra Shirodkar moved bail application before the court which court has kept on Wednesday for hearing.

Azad Maidan Police had arrested MNS General secretary Sandip Deshpande, Santosh Dhuri, Santosh Sarode, Abhay Malap, Yogesh Chile, Vishal Kokane, Harish Solanki, Diwakar Padwal for vandalising Congress office. Deshpande had twitted and took responsibility of the incident. Police after seeing CCTV footage and tweet applied rioting, tress passing and damage to property section against accused. Now all the eight accused have sent to Arthur road jail.

The tussle between the MNS and Mr. Nirupam began after the latter came out in support of hawkers against whom whom the MNS had launched an agitation following a stampede at the Elphinstone road railay station on September 29. The stampede had claimed 23 lives.
