BJP prez to review LS poll preparation

The grand rally is scheduled for Friday but Shah will also discuss both political and organisational issues with party leaders through out Friday.

Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s national president is all set to take a review of the party’s organisational strength during his two-day stay in the city to celebrate the BJP’s 38th Foundation Day.

The grand rally is scheduled for Friday but Mr Shah will also discuss both political and organisational issues with party leaders through out Friday.

In July last year, when Mr Shah was in Mumbai for two days, he had directed party leaders to strengthen the party at the booth level. He had asked them to build a list of panna pramukhs (a party point person for every page of the voting list). Maharashtra BJP chief Raosaheb Danave has claimed that the state unit has completed the work. Mr Shah is expected to review the same for every region.

According to sources, Mr Shah will also discuss issues related to state politics and particularly, an alliance with the Shiv Sena, with senior leaders.

There are reports that the BJP is trying to take the Sena on board for the coming Lok Sabha elections. The talks between both parties are also likely to start by the end of this month.

Mr Shah is likely to discuss constituency related issues with every Lok Sabha Member of Parliament. Sources said that MPs have been asked to be ready with details.

Congress says

Maharashtra Congress has slammed BJP for its founder’s day celebrations. Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant called the celebration insensitive. “Thirteen thousands farmers have committed suicides in last 4 years. BJP should explain what the celebration is about? It owes an explanation to those 30 lakhs jobless youths who lost their one source of income during last two years,” asked Mr Sawant. He also said that when Mantralaya is being converted into a anti people chamber and when people are reaching its door to commit suicides, BJP should focus on governance rather than celebration
