MMRDA starts Metro 4 barricading

Around six feet of the road will be taken up for barricading.

Mumbai: Barricading for metro 4 (Wadala to Kasarvadavali) has started on Tuesday. Barricades have been placed for soil testing purposes at the Thane end. MMRDA officials have begun talks with the Mumbai police to begin work at LBS Marg and Eastern Expressway. Around six feet of the road will be taken up for barricading.

A MMRDA official said, “The work of barricading has started at the end of the corridor, which is the Kasarvadavali stretch. This is done for soil testing. After the testing, contractors will get an idea about the rocky surface, depth and strength to lay the foundation of the metro piller. We are in talks with the Mumbai police and it has given its nod to start barricading in the Mumbai area of the corridor. Around 6 feet of the road will be taken, but traffic will not be diverted at LBS Marg.”

Further, public works department officials have had to reduce the height of the new flyover (Amar Mahal flyover) by two metres for the convenience of the metro. The MMRDA has claimed that the construction of metro 4 will be completed in 24 months.
