Budget 2019: Rs 1 cess on fuel cheating aam aadmi, says Opposition
Mumbai: While chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Shiv Sena hailed the Union budget, the Opposition party leaders said that the cess of Rs 1 on fuel was cheating the common man. Jayant Patil, state president of the NCP said that there was no provision in the budget for reducing inflation. Senior NCP leader and leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Dhananjay Munde, said that the budget was a disastrous one and the hike in fuel prices would break the backbone of the common man.
Mr Fadnavis said, “This is a visionary budget. From a micro-economic outlook, one can say that it is a manifestation of the Prime Minister’s dream to make India a five trillion economy. It also charts the roadmap of five trillion economies with a big thrust on creating infrastructure, with a whopping Rs 100 lakh crore investment in infrastructure. In the next five years, it will achieve a great growth potential.”
In a tweet, he said, “This year’s budget is a vision document with well-charted roadmap that will tra-nsform and create a #Ne-wIndia, the dream of our PM @narendramodi ji!”
Shiv Sena spokesperson and MLC Manisha Kayande said that the budget was meant for women’s empowerment. “After former PM Indira Gandhi, Nirmala Sitharaman, has tabled a budget which will deliver justice to the last man of the country.”
