Point failure at Dadar disrupts CR suburban services

The suburban services on slow line were affected for more than an hour.

Mumbai: A point failure was reported at crossover point at Dadar railway station on Wednesday evening resulting in disruption of services on both Up and Down lines of the Central Railway (CR).

The suburban services on slow line were affected for more than an hour. The passengers were forced to face the hardships. However, the CR spokesperson said that the services were resumed within 26 minutes.

A senior CR officer said that the point failure at crossover near Dadar railway station caused bunching of local trains.

As the trains were not moving, the passengers got down and started walking on the tracks. A passenger, who was at Parel, said that the train service resumed after 4.40 pm as the train was standing due to unknown reasons at Parel.

Dilip Kumar, who travels between Dadar to CSMT, said that there was no announcement at CSMT why the trains were late. A 5 pm Ambernath bound fast train left CSMT at 5.18 pm and the train again stopped between Masjid Bunder and CSMT for 5 minutes and later it stopped at Dadar at 5.35 pm.

A.K. Jain, senior public relation officer of CR, said that the point failure at the crossover in Dadar was reported at 4.15 pm and it was restored by 4.35pm. However, fast line services were running as per schedule.
