Shiv Sena demands expulsion of Prashant Paricharak
Mumbai: Ruckus was witnessed in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly again on Tuesday over the issue of revocation of suspension of independent MLC Prashant Paricharak.
He had sparked off a controversy with derogatory remarks against wives of soldiers.
Last week, the upper house unanimously passed the resolution of a high powered committee of council members to revoke his suspension.
The issue echoed in the Assembly again on Tuesday. The opposition members shouted slogans criticising the government for revoking the suspension.
Revenue minister Chandrakant Patil told the house that the committee had recommended that revocation of Paricharak’s suspension. He said Sena MLA Neelam Gorhe was a member of the committee. “The government cannot make any correction to the committee’s decision which was adopted unanimously by the House for a year,” he said.
However, Shiv Sena leader Sunil Prabhu asserted that Paricharak should be expelled and tried for treason.
The treasury benches also entered the well of the House shouting slogans against the leader of opposition in the council Dhananjay Munde over a purported CD of discussion of alleged corrupt practice.
Amid the din, the Speaker Haribhau Bagde adjourned the house for 15 minutes.
