BMC officials to work on their off due to rains

The BMC has made elaborate arrangements in the light of the forecast by IMD.

Mumbai: In view of extremely heavy rainfall warning by IMD from June 9 to 11; BMC has cancelled the leave of all top civic officials on Saturday and Sunday and has directed them to be available in their headquarters on June 9 and 10, even though it’s a holidays.

The BMC has made elaborate arrangements in the light of the forecast by IMD. Three teams of NDRF have been pre-positioned at city, Parel, Eastern suburbs – Mankhurd Fire Station and Western suburbs – Andheri Sports Complex with walky-talkies and flood rescue equipments.

The Navy has been pre-positioned at – Colaba, Worli, Ghatkopar, Trombay, Malad for flood rescue if required.

The Mumbai fire brigade’s six flood rescue teams have been pre-positioned at six regional command centers. The MFB’s teams are also deployed along with CDRF, police deployed on six beaches.

All 24 wards have been asked to keep shelter schools open 24×7, said a senior civic official.
