Quality of assessment important, says ex-VC

Till now, after three-and-half months of completion of examinations, MU has not managed to declare even a single result from law department.

Mumbai: While the varsity has promised to declare all the results by August 15 after missing the July 31 and August 5 deadline, the core members of the Mumbai University (MU), who are witnessing the OSM process everyday, are suspecting the August 15 deadline impossible to meet. According to an insider, “MU has fixed a target of completing the assessment of B.Com answer scripts so much so that they have forgotten that a large number of answer scripts are pending in Law and Management.”

Till now, after three-and-half months of completion of examinations, MU has not managed to declare even a single result from law department.

Talking to The Asian Age, the Ex-VC of MU, Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar, stated, “August 15 deadline would not be followed at any cost but the date at this point is not important. The focus should be more on ‘quality’ and the way the assessment process is carried and not the date or month.” He further added, “Date has become immaterial now as what is lost for the students is lost now. Even if the results come tomorrow or a month late, the opportunity the students lost won’t come back to them.”

According to Mungekar, the present VC Sanjay Deshmukh has deteriorated the condition for the students furthermore and has defied the words of the Chancellor of MU by not declaring the results on the date he has asked to.
