Duo called for fresh questioning in IB school rape case
Mumbai: The accused founder-director (57) of an Andheri-based IB school will be called in for fresh questioning on Monday and Tuesday, in connection with the case of alleged rape registered against him in May by the victim’s mother. The founder-director, along with a female class teacher, has been accused of raping a three-year-old girl in November last year.
The move comes days after the Bombay high court ordered the MIDC police to reopen the alleged rape case. The police will now probe the case afresh by recording statements of the two accused persons and probable witnesses. In a fresh lookout for the case, the accused reiterated the same story about being innocent to the police, a source revealed.
Both accused were summoned for questioning to Andheri’s MIDC police station and their interrogation is likely to go on for two days i.e. Monday and Tuesday. The questioning was conducted simultaneously for both the founder-director and the teacher in separate rooms. The statements recorded and answers given by both the accused were re-evaluated and primary conclusions drawn on their basis.
Navinchandra Reddy, deputy commissioner of police zone 10 said, “Following orders of the Bombay HC, we have reopened the rape case and are probing it with new angles. No more details can be divulged right now.”
An investigating officer said that there were no new revelations made on Monday. The accused founder-director kept repeating the same story that he was innocent and someone was trying to frame him.
