TMC contractor kills self: Police look at call records

Jadhav left home on Saturday evening and told his family that he would be back in some time.

Mumbai: The Thane police is examining the phone records of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) road contractor Sanket Jadhav, who shot himself dead with his licensed gun in his car on Sunday, to check if he had received any threats.

According to sources, the Kasarvadavali police had already filed an accidental death report in the case, but it is still checking his bank account details. A police officer said on condition of anonymity, “We are scrutinising his call records and whom he was in touch with for the past few weeks. We need to find out what kind of tension he was suffering.”

Senior PI D.S. Dhole told The Asian Age, “His family members are in trauma. We will talk to them later about Jadhav’s extreme step.”

The police, which has recovered a suicide note from the car, suspects that Jadhav, a resident of Panchpkhadi in Thane’s Naupada, was debt-ridden as he had incurred losses in his business.

In his note, Jadhav apologised to his wife, Vidhya. “Please forgive me. I am tired of everything and debt that I am facing,” it read.

Jadhav left home on Saturday evening and told his family that he would be back in some time. Jadhav drove towards Gaimukh Naka at Kasarvadavali and shot himself in the chest. A passer-by and some residents alerted the police after they heard a gun shot from the car.

Close friends of Jadhav whom he met recently said his death is shocking.
