Maharashtra calls for Marathi use in all central govt depts

Mumbai: The state government has issued a circular to make the use of Marathi language compulsory in all central government departments across the state.

Shiv Sena and MNS have always stressed on the of use Marathi as a official language in all central government offices, nationalised banks, railways, airport, etc.

After agitations and campaigns of MNS and Shiv Sena over Marathi board on shops, hotels, use of Marathi in central government offices, state government has issued the circular for making use of Marathi compulsory.

As per central government’s decision it is binding on all departments and undertakings to make use of the official language of the state as the third language besides English and Hindi in the day-to-day work in all the states.

So Shiv Sena has demanded many times in the legislature to ask the central government to take necessary steps.

Now the state has issued a circular to use Marathi language in all the central government offices, establishments, corporations and public undertakings working in the state and engaged in banking, telephone, post, insurance, railway, metro, monorail, airline, gas, petroleum, taxation for day today administration and for the recruitments and exams also.

Marathi is the official language of Maharashtra under the Maharashtra Official languages Act, 1964 and Amendment Act, 2015 and as per the three- language formula of the central government, it has has to use the regional language along with English and Hindi in all the offices and establishments of the Central Government.
