Mumbai: Fire fighting system of the entire Trade House building at Kamala Mills was not in a working condition at the time of incident, revealed the fire department’s probe report. The department has disconnected the water and electricity of the building under Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Act, 2006.  It has further sent a notice to the whole building as they have violated fire safety norms. “During our inspection, we noticed that the fire fighting requirements were not at all working. This could be very dangerous if fire breaks out on any of the floors of the building,” said a senior fire official. This fact was raised in the probe report, which was submitted by the Fire Brigade to the BMC commissioner on Friday. A notice under the safety act has already been issued by the fire department on December 30th to the building for deficiencies with respect to fire safety measures.

The building is a ground plus six storey structure and houses several media offices in it. The report also raised that the fire escape balconies of the entire building were encroached.
