BJP insensitive to key issues: Ashok Chavan

The BJP show on Friday gathered its followers from all over the state.

Mumbai: A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) foundation day rally in the city, Congress state president, Ashok Chavan alleged on Saturday that the grand show underlined the ruling party's insensitivity towards key issues people faced.

Alleging that the party in power in the state and at the Centre spent Rs 50 crore on the event.

“The BJP must have spent Rs 50 crore for the rally at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). What was the need for such a huge expenditure when the state is reeling under debt? The government has no money for farmers and the agricultural crisis is worsening.

This is not the time to celebrate when various groups are unhappy with the government. The BJP has lost its sensitivity towards the people," Mr Chavan said.

He also questioned the language used by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and BJP national president Amit Shah. "The language used does not suit them. We have never attacked the opposition in such a low language,” Mr Chavan said. He was referring to terms like mongoose and snake for parties like Congress, Samajwadi Party, and BSP.

Reacting to the BJP's appeal to the Shiv Sena, Mr Chavan said, "It is a clear indication that the party (BJP) is losing ground in the country. They have no option," the Congress leader said.
