Congress demands molestation fir against mayor

On Monday, the mayor visited the family of the mother-son, who was electrocuted. However, Mr Mahadeshwar was shooed by the public.

Mumbai: After the mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar of Mumbai refuted claims of having twisted a woman’s hand during his visit to Santacruz, the Mahila Congress Wednesday demanded that a case of molestation under section 354 of the IPC be registered against him.

A group of female activists under the leadership of Mumbai Mahila Congress president and former corporator Ajanta Yadav approached the Nirmal Nagar police station with their demand.

Deputy commissioner of police Manjunath Singe confirmed that the group had submitted their request but clarified that none of the women in the video had any complaint. He also said that the alleged act did not fall under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code and the matter had to be investigated.
