Thackeray reviews LS poll preparation

Sena has already declared its decision to contest the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls solo.

Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray reviewed preparations in Marathwada and Vidarbha for the Lok Sabha elections as the party prepares to contest the polls solo. However, according to sources, some Sena MPs are not ready to go solo as they fear that they might face defeat in BJP strongholds.

Sena has already declared its decision to contest the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls solo. Mr Thackeray has begun preparations and reviewed few constituencies of Vidhar-bha in a meeting with MP Anand Adsul, Krupal Tumane, Chandrakant Khaire, Bhavana Gavli. Ministers and senior Sena leaders Ramdas Kadam, Diwakar Raote, and MP Sanjay Raut were also present during the meeting.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is powerful in Vidarbha and some parts of Marathwada. If Sena decides to contest solo, sitting party MPs will likely face a defeat. So they are not supporting the decision of going solo, said a senior Sena leader.

Mr Thackeray held review meetings in last 2-3 weeks in which he discussed the local issues and about the strength of other political parties. He has also prepared the list of possible candidates after discussion with the leaders.
