Mumbai: Senior Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar, who has been sulking after being allocated lightweight portfolios, Wednesday remained absent from the special session of the Assembly. Nevertheless, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said that the issues would be resolved amicably.

On being questioned over Mr Wadettiwar’s absence, Mr Chavan argued that some issues have crept up due to the fact that it is a three-party government.

On Tuesday, too, Mr Wadettiwar skipped his first meeting after the expansion of the Thackeray Cabinet.

His absence on the second consecutive day led to speculation that all is not well with the MVA government.

Mr Wadettiwar has been allotted the OBCs, saltpan development and relief and rehabilitation (earthquake) portfolios.

Senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan told reporters that there were some internal issues due to which Mr Wadettiwar was miffed. Mr Chavan added that he was in continuous touch with him. “I am in contact with Mr Wadettiwar,” he said.
