Deadline crossed, Mumbai University yet to declare 135 results
Mumbai: The University of Mumbai (MU) is yet to declare 135 results out of 402 examinations even after exceeding the deadline of 45 days.
The results of the examination should be declared preferably within 45 days, as mandated by the Public Universities Act. These examinations were conducted in November-December, last year. The maximum numbers of pending results are from the law department and the self-financing courses.
Out of 15,139,37 answer sheets of the winter examination, around 13,987,84 answer papers have been evaluated. Even after 45 days after the examination, around 1,15,016 papers are left to be assessed.
Majority of the remaining papers belong to self-financed and law courses. Some of them include streams like Commerce, Science and Management. MU officials confirmed that all the major results like Bachelors of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelors of Arts (B.A), Bachelors of Science (B.Sc) are completed and the results too are declared. These major courses consist of high number of students ranging from 50,000 to 70,000.
In the last summer examination, the results were delayed by three and a half months due to technical glitches and system errors in the newly introduced On-Screen Marking (OSM) system,. This year the reason for delay is scarcity of teachers.
“For the assessment of the law papers, we need professionals. They are not available every day of the week as they have other commitments as well.
However, we are trying our best to manage and fix the issue to declare the results as soon as possible,” said the public relation officer of MU on Thursday.
The senior MU officials have instructed all the principals of the affiliated colleges to ensure that the teachers are focusing on the assessing work.
The varsity has assured that all the pending results will be declared within next week.
