Man hurls iron rod at wife in rage
Mumbai: The Versova police has arrested a 51-year-old man for allegedly hitting his wife with an iron rod late on Saturday night in a fit of rage.
The husband and wife were arguing over a property dispute they are embroiled in, when the accused attempted to kill his wife, Jayshree Ganekar (43). The accused has been remanded to police custody till Monday.
According to the police sources, the incident took place at Versova village, when the accused, Devdas Ganekar (51), started arguing with his wife Jayshree.
The argument was so heated that the neighbours had gathered to see what went wrong, and found their minor son sitting in a corner with his eyes and ears closed.
The sources said that the argument was about the family’s property dispute, which took a bad turn after Jayshree filed a case against her husband for cheating last year. In a fit of rage, Devdas picked up an iron rod from a table and hit her
Kiran Kale, senior police inspector of Versova police station said, “The accused was arrested and was booked under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code that pertains to attempt to murder.
