Website to tell if property is viable

On the site, a user can find relevant information via the options E-Search', E-Disnic' and E-Court'.

Mumbai: Property buyers will be able to know whether there are litigations or banks loans on the property they are planning to buy. The registration and stamp duty department incorporated a feature for this on its website — http://igrmaharashtra.gov.in — on June 2.

On the site, a user can find relevant information via the options ‘E-Search’, ‘E-Disnic’ and ‘E-Court’.

Buyers can go to those links and enter name of the property owners’ name, property survey number or court case number. Later on, the website will provide information as to whether or not the property is or was under any litigation and whether or not there is any loan on the property taken by a seller. Based on the information, buyers can decide whether they want to buy the property or not.

Supriya Karamalkar, deputy IGR, IT, Pune, said, “There are many complaints of buyers who purchase properties that are under litigation. After buying them they have to approach courts or other government departments against the seller.

In case there is a bank loan on the respective properties, buyers have to return the loan to banks. Though the exact number of buyers who got cheated is not available, it is high. To solve the problem we have put these links on our website.”

She added, “Either you need to enter the name of the owner of the property, its survey number or the court case number, and you will get all details of litigations, bank loans and even past records of the property. You will get to know if the court had passed an order about the property.”

“Sometimes, property disputes are registered with revenue officers. People will get to know property disputes registered with revenue officers as well.”
