22,000 students apply for revaluation, more to follow
Mumbai: Upset with the fault-ridden results declared by the University of Mumbai, 22,000 students have applied for revaluation till Friday. The number is likely to increase as (Bachelors of Commerce) B.Com students are yet to apply.
Every year the varsity expects a certain number of applications for revaluation. This year they had expected around 20,000. However, by the end of August, despite the MU managing to declare only the results of the first phase, i.e. around 50 per cent of the total, it has already received 22,000 revaluation applications.
The revaluation procedure helps those students who are not satisfied with their marks and want the varsity to re-evaluate their answer sheets and re-issue their marksheets.
MU’s Controller of Examination (CoE) Dr. Arjun Ghatule has confirmed that this year, the number of applications received is more than any other previous year. Now, in order to speed up the process, Mr Ghatule said that those papers that were initially assessed physically would be checked by hand for revaluation as well.
Explaining about the process, Mr Ghatule said, “The answer sheets coming in for revaluation will be sent to around 100 teachers apart from the teacher who originally assessed it. The moment a teacher starts assessing the paper, it will be dropped from the system of the other 99 teachers.”
“In cases where the number of teachers is more and students are less, the results would be declared within three days. However, if less teachers are available for a particular subject, it can take up to 30 to 45 days,” Mr Ghatule added.
