Producer opposes fresh probe into Tanushree case
Mumbai: A day after actress Tanushree Dutta submitted a written complaint seeking a FIR and case in her alleged sexual harassment, the Oshiwara police has received another application opposing a fresh probe. According to the investigators, the application has been submitted by Sameer Siddique, producer of the film in question. His application states that the Goregaon police had investigated the allegations in 2008 and hence, they do not need to be investigated again.
According to officials, the application adds that the allegations leveled by Dutta are baseless. However, the police has initiated an inquiry into Dutta’s allegations. The officials refrained from saying anything about the probe. “We are inquiring into the complaint and nothing more can be shared at the moment," said a Oshiwara police station official.
Meanwhile, actor Nana Patekar on Monday told the media that he still stood by what he had said when the allegations were first issued. “I don’t have anything new to say. What I said in 2008 remains the same.”
Dutta has submitted a fresh application against Patekar, Siddique and choreographer Ganesh Acharya alleging that they harassed her sexually during a film shoot in 2008 at a studio in Goregaon. The official said the actress approached the Goregaon police with a complaint after her car was attacked by workers of a political party. The application states that the police did not take cognisance of her complaint in 2008. The actress has now sought a case in the incident and action against the trio.
