Raosaheb Danve backs Jaykumar Rawal amid land-grabbing allegations
Mumbai: Amidst controversies over land grabbing, tourism minister Jaykumar Rawal met state BJP chief Raosaheb Danve and explained his side. Mr Rawal called the allegations as a political conspiracy to defame him and his party. It is being told that Mr Danve assured him complete support of the party.
After the death of Dharma Patil, 84 years old farmer who comitted suicide at Mantralaya on January 22, Mr Rawal is facing allegations by opposition parties. Nationalist Congress Party as well as Congress produced papers of land that Mr Rawal bought in same village of Mr Dharma, in Dhule district. Parties called it illegal land buying as the village was notified for thermal power project. But Mr Rawal denied it saying that he just became owner of the land on paper to show that he is with farmers of the village in their protest against project.
Not just this, Mr Rawal also came under fire after NCP’s spokesperson Nawab Malik alleged that he has grabbed the resort of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). Mr Malik also alleged that the company which is running this resort now is actually unlisted by company affairs ministry in its drive to shut down shell companies with suspicion of black money siphoning.
Another controversy about Mr Rawal came into political circle on Friday where he has allegedly interfered in the functioning of cooperative society in Mumbai to get windfall of profit after redevelopment. This all was being discussed in the state BJP from last two weeks.
