NCP asks Congress to act against Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil
Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has demanded action against senior Congress leader Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, alleging that he is not campaigning for its candidate in the Ahmednagar constituency. Mr Vikhe-Patil’s son Sujay is contesting from the Ahmednagar seat as a BJP candidate.
Peeved by his son’s claims for a ticket denied by the NCP, Mr Vikhe-Patil has already made it clear that he will not campaign for the NCP in Ahmednagar.
In a letter to state Congress chief Ashok Chavan, NCP spokesperson Ankush Kakade said it is ‘very serious’ that Mr Vikhe-Patil is campaigning for his son Sujay instead of the NCP’s nominee Sangram Jagtap from Ahmednagar.
“Mr Vikhe-Patil has been openly telling the media that the candidate of the Yuti (BJP-Shiv Sena-RPI alliance) will emerge victorious there. The stand taken by him has left the party workers in the constituency confused,” Mr Kakade said in the letter.
Ever since his son joined the BJP, state political circles are abuzz with reports of Mr Vikhe-Patil quitting the Leader of Opposition’s post and joining the BJP.
