Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday stalled the shooting of Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan's movie Baazaar over the illegal parking of his vanity van and other vehicles on a municipal ground in Parel.

According to civic officials, though the shooting was going on in a private building nearby, the vehicles were being parked at St. Xavier’s ground for the past few days without taking the BMC's permission. This also allegedly caused damage to the football ground, which inconvenienced local athletes. Following complaints by several people, the civic body had asked the film authorities to clear the spot. Despite this, shooting continued.

On Friday, the civic officials finally went to the ground along with policemen and removed the vanity van and a tent from there.

“Mr Khan had taken permission from the Mumbai police to conduct the shooting of his upcoming film. However, he did not take permission from the BMC and was using municipal property for the shoot. We asked him to remove his vehicles and other accessories from the municipal ground,” said Vishwas Mote, assistant commisioner of F-North ward.

The BMC has filed a complaint at Bhoiwada police station in this regard. "The permission to shoot will be given only after the filmmakers seek the BMC's permission," said a civic official.
