Congress plans to forge anti-BJP alliance in state

Sources said that party's state unit has pressed for an alliance in this report in detail.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee has declared its plan to get all like-minded parties on board to forge grand anti BJP alliance in state. State Congress chief Ashok Chavan clears this in Mumbai on Saturday after meeting with party leaders.

“In Palghar, opposition parties get 70 per cent votes. BJP could win the election with division of our votes. The report of this bypoll will be sent to Congress president Rahul Gandhi,” said Mr Chavan.

Sources said that party’s state unit has pressed for an alliance in this report in detail. “We discussed about ‘one on one’ election formula in general as well as Assembly elections. We should go ahead with the candidate who could win on that seat. This is what was discussed and finali-sed in the meeting,” said sources.

Maharashtra Congress is also planning a survey for all 288-Assembly constituencies. They are und-er attack for its in-activeness since last four years. To change this perception, party is launching various programs in the election years ahead.
