CR to get 4th suburban corridor

Mumbai: The Mumbai division of Central Railway (CR) is set to get a fourth suburban corridor between Nerul/Belapur and Kharkopar. Railway minister Piyush Goyal and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the line on November 11.

In an internal notification issued by the CR, the Railway Board has approved 20 services each between Nerul and Kharkopar and Belapur CBD-Kharkopar respectively. The corridor will be opened for the general public on November 12.  

CR officials said Mr Goyal and the chief minister would flag off the first service at Khar-kopar station for Bela-pur at 11 pm on Sunday. The move will avail of the connectivity betwee-n Nerul and Uran throu-gh the local services.

A public relations officer of CR said the CR would introduce 40 new suburban services on newly constructed Seaw-oods-Darave-Kharkopar section. The inaugural service from Kharkopar to Belapur will run on November 11 (open timing during inaugural function). Regular services on this section will commence from Novem-ber 12. He also said that a total of 40 services would run between Kharkopar and Neru-l/Belapur stations.
