Opposition set to singe BJP government in winter session

Pink bollworm is an issue that could damage the state government's narrative. Almost 80 percent of the cotton crop in this season has gone waste.

Mumbai: Opposition parties in Maharashtra are ready with the ammunition to target Bharatiya Janata Party-led (BJP) government in the winter session of the state legislature that will begin from Monday.

The Congress, National Congress Party (NCP) have planned for the huge morcha against Maharashtra government on December 12. NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will lead the rally. Opposition parties are set to raise questions over farm loan waiver scheme, pink bollworm on cotton in Vidarbha and law and order situation state.

The farm loan waiver issue is likely to rock the entire session. The opposition has alleged that numbers being provided by the state government are “fake”. “If this government has courage then it should declare the list of all 41 lakh farmers who received loan waiver,” said opposition leader Dhananjay Munde.

He warned that his party wouldn’t spare government on farmers’ issues.

Pink bollworm is an issue that could damage the state government’s narrative. Almost 80 percent of the cotton crop in this season has gone waste.

Though the government has asked the officials to file panchnama of the crop, now the opposition will raise the issue of compensation in the houses.

On December 12, opposition parties will try to set the tone of the session. NCP chief Sharad Pawar will lead the march against policies of the government. This march could push the government on backfoot from the day one.
