Indigo flight makes emergency landing due to engine failure
Mumbai: A Bengaluru-bound Indigo flight (6E 565) which left from the Mumbai airport on Tuesday night, returned minutes after the take-off due to an alleged engine failure. The flight was carrying around 180 passengers when it made the emergency landing at Mumbai airport. The flight was delayed by an hour and took off at 11:30 pm on Tuesday.
In a statement released by the airlines, it stated, “IndiGo flight 6E 565 faced a technical issue while it was airborne, following the standard operating procedures, the pilots immediately took the precautionary step of returning to Mumbai for necessary checks. An alternate aircraft was provided for completion of the flight.”
A full emergency was declared onboard, and arrangements of engines and ambulances were made during the emergency landing. The pilots informed the air traffic control before diverting and declaring emergency onboard. According to Indigo, the matter has been brought to the notice of Director General of Civil Aviation and is being investigated.
According to the reports, the flight reached Mumbai by midnight. After the landing, the passengers were accommodated in an another flight which took off by 2 am.
