CM Fadnavis declares plan to rehabilitate Metro 3 PAPs

Kalbadevi and Girgaon are two stations on Metro corridor 3 which are along Jagannath Shankar Sheth (JSS) road.

Mumbai: State chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has declared a rehabilitation plan for project-affected people living on the Metro 3 route. The plan is open to the public through a brochure. The rehabilitation plan is for specific stations namely Kalbadevi and Girgaon. These two stations are underground and are situated in congested areas.

Kalbadevi and Girgaon are two stations on Metro corridor 3 which are along Jagannath Shankar Sheth (JSS) road. The entire area near these two stations is congested. There were 30 buildings of 20 properties in Kalbadevi and Girgoan. Nearly 712 project-affected families (PAF) were living there.

The entire Metro Line 3 corridor is underground however entry and exits, ventilation shafts, ancillary buildings etc of these two stations will be constructed above the ground for which a few land parcels are needed for temporary and permanent basis.

For construction of these stations Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) prepared a rehabilitation plan for affected properties with in-site rehabilitation by redevelopment under Regulation no 33 (7) of DCR for Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). The same plan was published in a brochure on Sunday. The program was held at Varsha bungalow.

Under the insite rehabilitation scheme, PAPs will get the flats with modern amenities with double the existing area up to 300 sq ft. While those with 300 sq ft to 444.44 sq ft would get flat with 600 sq ft area. Tenants with more than 444.44 sq ft home will get 35 per cent more area and commercial PAPs get 20 per cent more area. Government of Maharashtra has approved the plan, which is a major achievement for implementing Metro Line 3 project.

“We are happy with the way and pace of the work and would like to thank the residents of these areas for supporting our project,” said an MMRC official.
