Man shoots love rival with son's aid
Mumbai: A father-son duo — Sukhdev Randive (55) and Santosh (32) — shot twice at a 37-year-old man around 11.30 pm on Monday after they learnt that the latter was allegedly wooing a woman, with whom Sukhdev was having an affair, in Chembur.
The victim, Saheb Timayya Reddy Ramoshi, who was shot at from the rear, was hit on the leg and his private parts, while the duo fled after firing the rounds, the police said. The 35-year-old woman’s husband stays abroad.
In less than 12 hours, acting on a tip-off, unit IV of Mumbai crime branch (CB) apprehended the accused at a time they were planning to flee the city.
“Sukhdev was riding pillion and he shot at Ramoshi after the duo intercepted him near Pepsi Company and after bending him shot at him,” said a crime branch officer.
The accused, both residents of RCF area in Chembur, work as drivers. The police said that the woman in question had been in a relationship with Sukhdev for the past few months. However, he allegedly learnt that she had grown closer to Ramoshi and was allegedly also in a relationship with him. This angered Sukhdev who plotted the hit and took help of his son.
After the attack, Ramoshi was rushed by bystanders to a private hospital from where he was shifted to Sion Hospital for further treatment, officials said.
“We received a tip-off and apprehended the duo. They have been handed over to the RCF police station for further investigation,” said Dilip Sawant, deputy commissioner of police, Mumbai crime branch. The officials are verifying the source of the weapons of both the accused. A case has been registered against the accused under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and as per the provisions of the Arms Act.
