130 days after law exam was held, 3,000 results pending

The LLB (semester V) has the most number of pending papers at 2812.

MUMBAI: Even after 130 days of conducting the law examinations, around 3,000 answer papers are yet to be assessed by the University of Mumbai (MU). Despite repeated promises, the varsity has been unable to declare the results. The LLB (semester V) has the most number of pending papers at 2812.

While LLB semester I has 83 pending results, semester III has 468 remaining. Like MCom, the law faculty is facing a crunch in professors or assessors due to which the results are being delayed. In the last week, the varsity managed to declare the other semester results of law but semester V being the recent and crucial one for the students, has yet not been declared. They have declared all the results of LLM.

The law faculty has only 193 faculty members or professors and a majority of them are professional lawyers. “193 professors is the lowest number compared to other streams or courses within MU. Even after so, they are trying their best to complete the assessment process and declare the results as soon as possible,” said a senior
varsity official.

Adding to the woes of the students, the varsity has issued the timetable for the next examination i.e., semester VI. The scheduled date of the exam is May 22. “We cannot study when we are uncertain about our previous exam results. They should either postpone the said exam or declare the results,” said Suganda Kakkdi, a law student. The students want to see their results first before giving the next exam.
